We have a ceramic cookie jar of a black guy playing the saxophone - it's not real old and is part of a set with a black female singer and maybe a drummer, IIRC.
A couple of lib relatives here for a picnic gasped upon seeing it, so I asked them why they considered it racist. After some sputtering and stammering, they filled their plates and shut up.

Right; if it looks “white”, they complain that you’re preferring the white race.
If it looks black (or some other non-white), they complain you are demeaning the other races.
