GOP Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, who chairs the Rules Committee, said further particulars cannot be made public, in order to respect the confidentiality afforded to victims.

“While the Rules Committee has been eager to provide this information in a transparent manner, it has been our priority to protect the victims involved in these settlements from further harm,” the senator said in a statement attending the report.

Of course they do.
I merely said that gives ‘them’ cause not to bring formal charges when it gets to that point.

Nixon, for all his ‘warts’ etc, was a Gentleman and resigned rather than put the country through an embarrassing ordeal.

When Dole ran for President and was selected, he resigned his Senate seat - a Gentleman’s move.

I always felt it should be a requirement once you are the selected candidate... at least it shows YOU think you have a chance to win and move UP the line....

If the report doesn’t provide names of offenders, then all 100 Senators are under a cloud. They couldn’t have picked a worse way to handle this, short of outright stonewalling.

A lot of age discrimination......most likely congress-critters firing older staff in favor of younger, more vibrant staff.

Senate Rules and Appropriations Committees Release OOC Harassment Settlement Data

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, on behalf of Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) and Ranking Member Amy Klobuchar (R-Minn.), and the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations, on behalf of Chairman Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and Vice Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), today released information provided by the Office of Compliance (OOC) regarding the statistical breakdown of awards and settlements involving Senate employing offices from 1997-2017.

“Harassment in the workplace should not be tolerated under any circumstances, but particularly not in the United States Senate,” said Chairman Shelby of the Senate Rules Committee. “While the Rules Committee has been eager to provide this information in a transparent manner, it has been our priority to protect the victims involved in these settlements from further harm. I am pleased that we have received assurances from Senate Legal Counsel that the release of this data does not violate confidentiality and as such, are able to make it public.”

“Harassment of any kind is unacceptable. The Senate should hold itself to the highest standards of professionalism and respect,” said Appropriations Committee Chairman Cochran.

The Senate Rules Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee consulted extensively with Senate Legal Counsel prior to this release to ensure it complied with the confidentiality protections governing these agreements and was sufficiently protective of the victims in these cases. The Committees received assurances from Senate Legal Counsel that the release of this information in no way implicates confidentiality concerns. It should be noted that the Senate – unlike the House – does not have its own records of individual settlements and therefore cannot independently verify the accuracy of the data provided by the OOC.

The following information regarding settlements between FY1998 and FY2017 was provided by the OOC on Rules and Administration and the Committee on Appropriations.

And who did all this? Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd! That’s who. Those two senile old coots became more and more out of control as they got older, deliberately offending the hell out of anyone and everyone, and pawing the ladies like two grizzlies after salmon. All 98 other Senators were as innocent as the driven snow, but those two were incorrigible, and their seniority meant that everyone else had to put up with their hi-jinx. It’s a good thing they died finally, or there’s no telling what further damage they would have done. Now the truth can finally be told./sarc piled up to the ceiling.

In a grandiose show of his "impending knighthood," Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Alabama), Rules Committee chair, graciously said that "further particulars cannot be made public, in order to respect the confidentiality afforded to victims of sex harassment by members."

MEMO TO SHELBY: you, sir, know dam well. Americans do not want the names of the victims.
Americans DEMAND to know the names of the elected sex harrassers and tax dollars they extorted to silence their victims.

AMERICANS DEMAND TO KNOW THE SCOPE AND DIMENSION OF TAX DOLLARS EXTORTED FOR THESE ITEMS:

<><> tax-paid hush money disguised as bonuses

<><> tax-paid severances

<><> no-show jobs to silence victims

<><> tax-paid legal assistance

<><> payouts from the Office of Compliance

<><> payouts from tax-paid office budgets

<><> all other forms of tax-paid bribery

<><> all other forms of tax-paid hush money.

TALKING POINTS The revelation that there is a separate tax-paid office in Congress facilitating and paying for sexual harassment investigations, with little transparency and apparently little oversight, indicates Congress’ handling of sexual harassment is playing the role covering up offenses rather than revealing them.

All 535 members of Congress should be asked if he or she is party to any non-disclosure agreement. If the Rep or Sen can not or will not answer in the negative, the member should resign.

Let me preface my comment by saying that I am NOT for sexual harassment or assault. I think it is very good news that Weinstein, Spacey, Frankan, Singer, and all of the other perverts and rapists are finally being exposed.

That said, I think it may be time for us to have the debate in this nation about how much "discrimination" is a really a Ca$h Cow scam and con game in America.

Look at this data released (and this is only for Congress):

Settlements Arising from Claims against Member-led Senate Employing Offices

Claims and Settlement Amount

Age and race discrimination and reprisal
$8,964

Reprisal
$9,000

Disability discrimination, FMLA violation, and reprisal
$9,000

Age discrimination
$9,618.60

Race discrimination
$12,456

Sex discrimination, FLSA violation, and reprisal
$14,260.25

Age discrimination and reprisal
$15,000

Age discrimination and reprisal
$15,500

Age and disability discrimination and FMLA violation
$20,800

Age discrimination
$54,000

Age and disability discrimination, FMLA violation, and reprisal
$60,000

Age and national origin discrimination and reprisal
$102,903.62

FMLA and FLSA violations
$267,750

TOTAL: 13 settlements

$599,252.47

It is pretty clear that Discrimination Lawsuits are nothing but a lottery ticket for many and for their sleaze bag lawyers. They are also a platform for certain groups to claim special privilege "victim status" and promote their political and social agenda, which is often times untimely, anti-white, and anti-Christian.

Settlements Arising from Claims against Other Senate Employing Offices Claims Settlement Amount Sex discrimination and reprisal $4,000 Disability discrimination and FMLA violation $9,750 Age, sex, and disability discrimination $10,000 Race discrimination $10,000 Race, age, and disability discrimination, FLSA violation, and reprisal $15,300 FMLA violation and reprisal $30,000 Disability discrimination, FLSA and FMLA violations, and reprisal $30,450 Sex and disability discrimination and FMLA violation $42,000 Disability discrimination $280,500 Race discrimination and reprisal $421,225 TOTAL: 10 settlements $853,225

I firmly believe the depraved members are covering-up their sexual harassment.

The settlement list above downplays it considerably.

I believe they papered over the sexual harassment using other more “politically correct” settlement terminology.

This is the reason “Sir Shelby” wont release the names of the victims.......they have stories to tell.

FWIW, I’m far more worried about settlements we don’t know about. Those could be a national security nightmare.

The legend is that elected parasites do not ever spend even ONE PENNY of their own money for anything.

The cunning parasites have ways to soak the taxpayers even for a sheet of toilet paper.
