Totally agree. I avoid malls because I know 50% of the kids there are there NOT to shop.
Now what dey be look like, dem youffs?
No it wasn’t the same thing. The incident in CA had a group of 50-100 acting like AH’s.
In this story, they’re talking 1,000. Big difference.
You're the merchandise.
“Brady Bunch bitch-slapping each other at Bed, Bath and Beyond?”
I might pay to see that.
Yuppies and hipsters sipping tea in sidewalk cafes got attacked, had their cellphones stolen, got beat up. It was pretty over-the-top.
There used to be a big shopping mall in Center City, called "The Gallery at Market East." It was pretty amazing.
No more. Gonsky. They're trying to build something where it used to be, but it never seems to get finished and be open for business. Can't imagine why.
A sudden flash mob of a thousand teens indicates some sort of organizing. Perhaps some “community organizer” doing a shake down?
‘Betcha this won’t be the last of these ‘spontaneous’ riots.
New Jersey carry:
All firearms transported into the State of New Jersey:
* Shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel, shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances.
* The firearm should not be directly accessible from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. If the vehicle does not have a compartment separate from the passenger compartment, the firearm and ammunition must be in a locked container other than the vehicles glove compartment or console.
Issue: If the chief of police wants to.
I have a strong feeling that mall would not be someplace I would go.
.
Back in the eighties it was pretty nice, for NJ anyway.
The whole “enclosed mall” concept was based on a post-war civil contract that depended on a certain set of shared values, like that parents were deathly afraid that if they didn’t bring their children up to respect authority and obey the law, they wouldn’t amount to anything.
That went out the window long ago, of course.
Now, that civil contract is called “white privilege.”
<Cherry Hill used to be primarily rich, white and jewish. Wonder if the teens came across from Philly or up from Camden?
I wondered the same thing. I left Philly in 1997 (thank you , Jesus). I thought Cherry Hill was supposed to be kind of nice. Either it has changed or the thugs in North Philly and Camden now have cars.
“Now, that civil contract is called white privilege.

Yep! It mention five were arrested, out of approximately 1000——and not a darned thing will happen to that five.
Indoor malls are becoming a thing of the past.
We have had three shopping areas open near me(eastern MA) in the last 10 years-——all open ,none enclosed, and doing quite well.
.
“teens” = “ferals”
Except for the Pyramid "Destiny USA" mall, which is trying to buck the trend.
All the rest are converting to strip malls. The one non-Pyramid hold out is slowly dying, and has been for twenty years. Last I heard, it was millions of dollars behind on its property taxes. The town it's in is the town I grew up in. If it closes, the town will lose its biggest retail attraction by far. I think that's why they're not dropping the hammer on it.
All its anchor tenants are moving out into distressed strip mall space nearby. This includes Dick's Sporting Goods, several upscale clothing stores, the main barber shop, and home furnishing stores like Bed Bath and Beyond and Kohl's.
The handwriting is on the wall, I'm afraid.
It's ironic because that particular mall was a strip mall before it went "enclosed," back in the mid-70s.
It went to an enclosed format in order to entice the major retailers which had been located in downtown Syracuse, and were one of the main reasons why suburban shoppers still went downtown.
They closed their downtown headquarters stores and moved to the mall, which enclosed itself and became a high-end showplace.
Then the social contract broke down in the '90s, and they all went broke. I guess the internet didn't help either. The two phenomena hitting together pretty much killed it.
The liquor warehouse in the Cherry Hill Mall has the most Scotch varieties I have seen in one building.
Sometimes I hate my age...
