My instincts tell me that the Awan’s are just grifters and ID thieves that got into the big candy store and stole everything in sight because that is their nature. Who they sold the candy to is the big question.
Considering that Wasserman has been doing everything in her power to keep them from the law, I would say that she is a huge, lit, sign as to whom was benefiting from the Awan's activities.
