However, at a national level, Mexicans are more likely to be the majority in the US than blacks. This is why the Democrats are trying to promote politicians like Julian Castro. He and his allies have already displaced the gringos in the local governments of San Antonio and other towns in the southwest where Mexican nationals and Chicanos are the majority. That's their blueprint for the rest of the country.
