I couldn’t imagine dealing with bugs from sloppy neighbors; here in NJ we have a phenomenon where any multi-family that rents to Indians quickly becomes Indian-only; they refuse to use pesticides for religious reasons,

...

As long as they will bake a gay cake, all is good.

“3 year old? In reality an unmanageable feral whelp, a “teen” with training wheels”

Uh,no-———just a three year old.

“The blaze struck an ethnically diverse, working-class neighborhood near Fordham University.”

Why is this fact important when reporting a fire?

Yes, another reason the only people who will live in those other units after the first Indian moves in are other Indians. I’ve noticed whole housing developments (duplexes) where Indian “replacement Americans” occupy homes where America’s former middle class lived.

Some Caribbean people are big on cooking with curry, too; not my cup of tea...

The semi-literate author probably had to say it that way to get it past the editor.

Gimme about a thousand breaks.

We don't know anything about "feral whelps" or "too many kids to handle (two)." You're just making that up.

I started a blaze in our bathroom 60+ years ago when I was about 3 or 4. I was messing with matches and a little incense cone and started some nail polish remover (acetone) on fire in an ashtray.

We lucked out because my mother detected the fire very quickly and extinguished it.

I was not a feral whelp.

My brother and I (the two of us) were not "too many kids to handle".

We were just kids who do what kids do. Sometimes with horrific consequences.

At 1 year, mine knew to never go near the stove. All I had to do was say “Hot” in relation to anything and that was an immediate show stopper.

Lived in one once. Never again. Walls were too thin and banging beds were too annoying.

Played with burners. Flames got out of control.

This kid had a HISTORY of playing with burners. And the worthless slut "mother" did nothing to stop it, put a barrier on the burner controls, etc. In addition, this absolute idiot who managed to "gift" us with two more welfare mouths to feed, educate, medicate, etc. ran out of the apartment where HER kid started the fire and LEFT THE DOOR OPEN to spread the fire more easily around the building. She needs to be spayed so that she doesn't pass on her sheer stupidity to more welfare rolls.

Sorry about that. I had intended to apologize about that for several decades.

The Indian tenants also tend to emit “interesting” cooking odors into surrounding apartments as well.

I once lived in an apartment complex in northern Virginia that was very ethnically "diverse". I remember the fetid cooking odors from our Indian neighbors apartment. Just going out into the stairwell during their mealtime was bad enough to make me gag.

Why I will never live in an apartment anymore. They are tinderboxes for the irresponsible.

Yup. Pretty much the same for attached condos. Nearly every night I see apartment and condo buildings go up in flames on our local 11pm news... mostly in poor neighborhoods, but often in middle class to upscale neighborhoods, too.

here in NJ we have a phenomenon where any multi-family that rents to Indians quickly becomes Indian-only; they refuse to use pesticides for religious reasons, so nothing you do in your own space protects you. I believe “Infested” had an episode where a Canadian woman had that problem in her apartment; one tenant in the whole building refused to bomb on religious grounds. Disgusting...

Wow. I had no idea Indians refuse to use pesticides for religious reasons. Just wow.

We briefly were landlords back in the early 1990s when my husband and I got married, and we rented out my small condo that I bought a few years before I met him.

The quality of the tenants started off great, but went downhill rapidly after our first wonderful tenant moved out after 4 years. The next 5-10 or so tenants were a constant headache, and we usually had to chase 'em down for rent money. NEVER again!

The day I sold that condo was one of the happiest days of my life.

I get so disgusted by the cruelty of people on this site. The mother probably was no more negligent than any other mother - NYC has gas stoves, and the older ones (which were no doubt what were in this apartment) can shoot out a lot of flame.

The child, a little boy, had been warned off them before, but having had a son who constantly had to be dragged off from playing with matches, gotten from I knew not where, I can understand that. Many little boys come across as juvenile pyros - not the sickos who like setting fire to things and animals, but simply boys who like to start and see fires. So they have to be watched until they are old enough to understand the damage that they can do with this. But a three year old can slip away in no time at all.

And in any case, what does it matter that they were Jamaican or African immigrants? Burning to death was no more fun for them than it would have been for a pure WASP, which seems to be the only group that counts for some here. Hope it never happens to you, folks, and please try to show some kindness. (Not talking to you, Tazzo, but simply about some of the responses to your post.)

My understanding is that just the Hindus do that (because they believe in reincarnation). I’ve seen FReepers comment about Hindus refusing to eat cows, but many refuse to eat any meat at all.

Friends who’ve owned rental properties all eventually sold them for reasons you describe; they summed it up like this: The best tenants are the kind that save up and buy a house of their own.

I think in some wealthy areas you could get good tenants, but you’d pay a LOT for the property.
