If you don't want your dog then you should either find someone else to take him, take him to a shelter or, if there is nothing else to do, put him down humanely.

I have had a number of pets, option one and option three are the only ones I have done.

Just dumping an animal is wrong.

I found some abandoned kittens on the roadside once. I put them in my car and brought them to a veterinarian’s office, and was later told they all got good homes.

The person who left them could have done the same damn thing. It was only a matter of driving in a different direction.

Anyone who would abandon helpless, trusting animals to an awful fate is broken/warped/sick on a fundamental level.

We have a dog that I can guarantee you no one else would have kept. She’s super hyperactive, stubborn as hell, smart as a whip, and just an all around ahole at times. We got her at 2 months old and she’s now 1 1/2.
She’s the biggest pain and just a lot of work.
We never considered getting rid of her simply because we knew what would happen to her eventually. We just work with her every day, grin and bear it, and hope that as she gets a little older it gets easier.
