K-12: Killing Democracy
American Thinker.com ^ | January 3, 2017 | Bruce Deitrick Price

Rudolf Flesch, in his 1955 book, noted that "things have changed in the last 10, 20 years. For the first time in history, American parents see their children getting less education than they got themselves. Their sons and daughters come home from school and they can't read the newspaper; they can't spell simple words like February or Wednesday; they don't know the difference between Austria and Australia. The fathers and mothers don't know the reason for this, but they know that something terrible has happened to their most precious dreams and aspirations[.]"

Isn't it beautiful – the way Flesch perceives the decline of American civilization from two tiny examples? Austria and Australia look alike. What's the big deal about telling them apart? Such casual imprecision is how students think today and is the essence of our problem. Flesch remains The Man in American education. Early on, he grasped the garish symptoms of the country's intellectual death spiral. A school system that doesn't teach children the difference between days of the week and months of the year? Well, there's little hope for it.

Even as the Education Establishment insisted that American children read, write, and spell better than ever, Flesch proved the absurdity of this claim. He saw the country's academic decline; he saw the intellectual fabric of the country start to unravel. "The American dream is, essentially, equal opportunity through free education for all. This dream is beginning to vanish in a country where the public schools are falling down on the job[.]"

Please read that three times. There should be symphonic accompaniment with big drums. The American dream is vanishing; equal opportunity through free education is fading. All of this was stated back in 1955, in Flesch's famous book, Why Johnny Can't Read.

I agree.

While I don’t think they’re as far over the edge as the Democrats are, they certainly enable the Democrats. So in a way they are just as bad.

We need to massive purge of our party, taking it back from these enemies of the state. (our nation)

“We need to massive purge of our party, taking it back from these enemies of the state. (our nation)”

This “Purge” is only attainable through....knowledge, wisdom and understanding....which is in itself through....faith, hope and love....Love being the greatest of these....and there is only one author of Love.

Sacrifice and...................patience.

The other verses are in the link and I sung them. The other people didn’t know that the Star Spangled Banner hass four verse or stanzas. As for your comment about a Leftist coming up with something — I do confess it makes me think....

“I do confess it makes me think”

We are all slaves to “thinking”....but, it is better to “ponder”....with time....than to react to the cumulative input
of invasive media training of our every thoughts.

Again....there is only one Author of Love/Life.

If there be a rebirth of this nation....it is through Faith, Hope and Love....and the Author of such will not allow guns to be its foundation. Do I have guns?....Yes, but, purely for home invasion....I am married.

I am thankful for her. She has sought common goals with me in our one-flesh marriage. With here continuous handling of our finances, we are without debt....period. As is per the Author of Love/Life.

Now, if life was just me, without my dear wife....I would not defend anything I have if there was a invasion of my property.

I not afraid to be alone without resources....I been there, thankfully, to the Author of Love/Life.

My soul....is in good hands....not my own hands.

I don’t know verses 2, 3, & 4.

Then here is your chance to learn more...

O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bomb bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream,
'Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto - "In God is our trust,"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

God supported the Children of Israel in war.

God will also support others who have to use force.

If you allow yourself to be killed without putting up a fight, it is suicide. Do you think suicide is sanctioned by God? If a person allows his family to be killed without planning for their safety and lifting a finger, he has shirked his duty. If we allow our neighbors or community to be attacked by evil people without confronting them, we are also guilty. The same goes for our nation.

Yes, there is a good and an evil. Good must stand up to evil. God sanctions that. God is the same today as He was in the past. He will be the same tomorrow. He backed Israel in war.

IMO < we have a duty to protect ourselves, our loved ones, our community, and our nation.

Every God fearing man should own weapons, and make sure to use them in a manner that God could approve of.

So Christ, whom had all the resources of heaven at his disposal, committed suicide by submitting to his death on the cross?

So Christ, who initially sent his disciples out with swords, and then his disciples had no swords, is not sending a message as to the later times for Israel and all true Christians as to whom they must trust in?

So Christ, whom had all the resources of heaven at his disposal, committed suicide by submitting to his death on the cross?

As a Christian, you understand why Jesus was born to Mary (a virgin). You understand why he ministered to men on earth.  You understand why he had to die for them as typified by the sacrificial lamb going back to Adam, once Adam was cast out of the Garden of Eden.  That sacrificial lamb ritual had no sigificance once our sacrifiial lamb Jesus Christ was crucified and died.  You are not a sacrificial lamb.

You are not asked to die for mankind, to purchase their souls back.  Jesus Christ had to die.  He came to die.  He could not fight it.  It was his duty to submit to it.

Yes, we are asked to model our lives after Christ, but we do not have to sacrifice self, our spouses, our children, our moms, dads, brothers, sisters, other family members, friends, associates, neighbors, town, region, state, or nation to evil.

Dennis Prager is very firm on this.  Do we let Hitler take over the world?  Is that a Chrisitan's mandate?  No, emphatically no!  It is evil to allow an evil such as Hitler and his minions to fluorish unchecked.

Yes, not only did Jesus have all the resources of the universe at his disposal, but even His angels from heaven had to keep themselves in check.  They could not intercede on His behalf.  Jesus was not abandoned here.  A part of the host from heaven was there, with Him looking on in horror, and they could do nothing.  They went through that for us.

We can and must do something in good conscience, when we have the power to check evil.  And we should prepare for it in advance.

So Christ, who initially sent his disciples out with swords, and then his disciples had no swords, is not sending a message as to the later times for Israel and all true Christians as to whom they must trust in?

When sin first crept into heaven, did God simply fall on His knee and allow Satan to take over?  Of course not.  Neither should you here.

God allowed Lot's wife to be struck dead.  He was with David when he took down Goliath.  He was with the Children of Israel as they fought battles.  He is with righteous causes on the battlefield now.

God instructed Noah to build a boat.  He was instructed to only let the righteous on.  That turned out only to be his family.  Was that evil?  No.

Will a time come when we will be overwhelmed and have to stand in judgement before evil non God-fearing men?  At some points in history, yes.

That is a time when we will only be able to stand there and witness.  We will be representing the Holy Trinity there.  We will speak with authority, clarity, love, and understanding at that point.  Our fate will be sealed.  We will die.

At this point as we stand there, we will be talking to God in our heart and mind.  We will ask for forgiveness, and praise God for His dedication to us.

In those last moments of our life, we can have inner peace knowing that we will be pure as the driven snow for our last few minutes, having confessed everything, expressed our love and faith in God, and our willingness to die being faithful to Him.

We will still be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, but we will die in perfection before God.

The power of evil may be able to cause us pain at that time.  We will feel it, but be assured of salvation.  We will be at peace.

These things are our duty.

My mom learned stuff in 4th grade they still weren’t teaching me in 9th. And that was a while ago now. I shudder to think how it’s likely gotten even worse.

Matthew 10:34-36
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth.
I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Luke 22:38
The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.”
“That’s enough!” he replied.

Hoo hoo! And there wasn’t any googling in 1895. Could teachers even grade that today?

I don’t know if Jay Leno could find a person a street that knows what a promissory note is let alone knows how to write one.

The tests I recall I had to take to graduate from elementary school were all multiple choice, except for maybe one essay question.
