GOP senators request criminal investigation of Trump dossier author © Greg Nash Two Republican senators are asking the Department of Justice to open a criminal investigation into Christopher Steele, the author of a controversial research opposition dossier on President Trump.

Sens. Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Lindsey Graham (S.C.) sent a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray asking that they investigate if the former MI6 agent lied to federal authorities.

"I don’t take lightly making a referral for criminal investigation. But, as I would with any credible evidence of a crime unearthed in the course of our investigations, I feel obliged to pass that information along to the Justice Department for appropriate review,” Grassley said in a statement.

Graham added that "after reviewing how Mr. Steele conducted himself in distributing information contained in the dossier and how many stop signs the DOJ ignored in its use of the dossier, I believe that a special counsel needs to review this matter."

WOW. This is a DIRECT assault on Mueller, and his trustworthiness, since this accusation is an item that Mueller should now otherwise be responsible for knowing, and prosecuting already. It's therby also an assault on Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller to be on top of such things, when he's clearly not.

So they're going after Steele?

What about everybody else?

It appears that the letter asks for a review of the evidence, and the appointment of a special prosecutor if the evidence warrants.

And it therefore infers, if not asserts that Mueller has been too busy trying to take down the Trump administration, to even take the appropriate time to validate whether his witnesses and their evidence was even sound to begin with. And therefore it may even require a new special prosecutor to evaluate the soundness of the the current one, if not his removal completely. If nothing else, Mueller's free wheeling days are reaching an end, as he's facing a true legal attack on his rear flank.

Yes, they're going after Steele, to invalidate him and his evidence. And to invalidate any other evidence that was gained by the FISA warrant, which was based on Steele's invalidated evidence. This will significantly narrow the vectors that Mueller has at his discretion to pursue the President, while also forcing Mueller to defend why he didn't invalidate Steele already, himself.

As Mueller and his investigation is weakened, and public opinion continues to be brought up to speed on the accusations against Trump which were based on the Steele dossier were improper, the weapons of law enforcement can then be better targeted on the cabal of true criminals such as Hillary and her compatriots who worked with Steele to manufacture those charges.

Bottom line this is a huge shot being landed on Mueller, and the root of his original investigation against Trump. In my opinion, of course!

Mueller's free wheeling days are reaching an end...

Mueller, if he has any integrity or honesty, already realizes that the "crimes" allegedly committed by Trump are actually crimes that were committed against Trump. And that some of the anti-Trump conspirators, i.e. Strzok, were part of his investigation team. Mueller must now make a decision: either he can go down with the anti-Trump criminals his investigation was created to protect, or he can confess that he has been used by these people for unethical purposes and become a witness against them. We'll soon find out which road Mueller wants to travel.

Same for Rosenstein, but is someone who has a long personal history deeply entwined with Mueller and Comey.

If this was all above board, and the players were honest, then Rosenstein would have announced that the Mueller special counsel was going to take the investigation of wrongdoing against Trump under the umbrella of the current investigation of the election. But he's not done that, probably because he knows Mueller's would screw it all up.

So now we get these Senators calling for a second special counsel, to vet the evidence the first special counsel apparently didn't, and still isn't capable of correctly investigating. What a fiasco.
