A Kentucky clerk who spent five days in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples has filed for re-election.
Kim Davis filed for re-election last week, according to documents on the Secretary of States website. She had announced in November she planned to seek a second term.
Davis caused an international uproar when she stopped issuing marriage licenses in 2015 after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down laws banning same-sex unions.

good. she will again have my full support. may God defend her from the gope.
People who went to Jail (and some EXECUTED!)to defend what they believe include:
John Bunyon (Author of Pilgrim’s Progress)
William Tyndale (Translator of the Bible into English)
Martin Luther King (Civil Rights Activist)
St. Paul of Tarsus (Evangelist and Author of much of the New Testament)
Galileo (Scientist)
Nelson Mandela (Civil Rights Activist)
Joan of Arc (Catholic Saint and Warrior)
The Salem “Witches” (Not “witches” at all, but just normal people)
Jan Hus, William Wycliff (Religious Activists)
Socrates (Educator and Philosopher)
Mary Dyer (Quaker in Boston, executed for being a Quaker in Boston)
and, of course...
Jesus of Nazareth (what can I say?)
Whether you believe in their causes or not, it is an impressive list. Kim Davis is in Good Company.
“John” Wycliff. Not “William” sorry.
IIRC, her mother was the clerk for about 30 years.
Mandela was a communist terrorist. Putting him on a list with Jesus, the apostle Paul and Tyndale is an insult to Jesus and the rest of them.
I realize he was a terrorist. I don’t think Martin Luther King was all that great either. The list was just for people who were jailed for what they believed, and meant no insult. I am truly sorry, and meant no offense.
Socrates was a Pagan, but was included in the list as well.
I was trying to go “across the board” and not be confined to just wonderful noble people who believe the same as I do (Jesus, Tyndale, Wycliff, Paul, Etc)
But I DO see your point. Sorry.
IINM, Mandela was jailed specifically for his terrorist acts.
