Restaurant busboys, in line to earn a little more dough this year as minimum wage hikes hit across the country, are instead losing their jobs as chains look to cut costs.
One chain axing jobs is Red Robin, which hopes to save about $8 million this year by eliminating busboys at each of its 570 restaurants, the company said Monday.
Red Robin restaurants are located mostly in Western states, where the minimum wage has risen more quickly.

But they're getting that huge tax cut. Wasn't the pitch from Congress and the President that all that extra money would give corporations the opportunity for increasing employee wages? I guess not.

At first I read that as caning busboys. Geez, assaulting your employees wint help the bottom line!
The food is served on a tray in a basket. I’m fully capable of tossing my garbage and putting the tray and basket up on the return rack. They will have to start serving their drinks in paper or plastic cups though.
I used to work as a cashier for Red Robin. I hated every moment of it. Only when a cute hot chick came in made my life easier but that’s it..
