Issa mulls running in neighboring district
The Hill ^ | 1/11/18 | Scott Wong & Katie Bo Williams

GOP Rep. Darrell Issa, who said Wednesday he is not seeking reelection in California’s 49th District, has been discussing with colleagues the possibility of running in a neighboring San Diego district if embattled Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) resigns, multiple sources told The Hill.

Some of these discussions happened as recently as Wednesday, the day Issa announced he would not be running for reelection in his coastal Southern California district after 17 years in the House.

Most of Washington took that to mean Issa, the former Oversight Committee chairman and Congress’s wealthiest member, was leaving Capitol Hill for good.

But in his statement, Issa never specifically said he was retiring from Congress.

“[W]ith the support of my family, I have decided that I will not seek re-election in California's 49th District,” Issa said.

Later he added: “While my service to California's 49th District will be coming to an end, I will continue advocating on behalf of the causes that are most important to me, advancing public policy where I believe I can make a true and lasting difference, and continuing the fight to make our incredible nation an even better place to call home."

The specificity of the statement caught the attention of some California Republicans, who have been hearing rumors of the Issa plan for months. Before the 2010 redistricting, Issa represented some areas of Hunter’s neighboring 50th congressional district.

Why is Duncan Hunter “embattled”?
He is one of the few on the side of the citizens and the rule of law.
Is this the Bush League trying to oust him?

Issa was facing increasingly difficult odds in hanging onto his current seat. He beat Democrat Doug Applegate by 1,621 votes in 2016, and some Republicans have been warning of a possible Democratic wave coming in 2018.

Probably a Democratic wave of illegal immigrants registering to vote as well as continual influxes of legal immigrants almost guaranteed to vote Democratic.

The ongoing Democrat voter recruitment drives are working and this DACA push is just the next step.

I read a roll call of house of reps and 73 (approx) congresscritters were not present when they returned to session in January. As Q Anon has indicated many bad actors will be allowed to resign or otherwise fade away because putting 70% of gov in jail would destabilize the gov. So - when I read about these people resigning or not seeking re-election I noticed a strange number were seeking other offices abruptly (governor was popular). I think it’s fake. I think they pretend to mull running for this or that office over to give the impression they aren’t on the scum list. Somehow they will run and drop out or more likely decide not to run and maybe become community organizers. Yes -it is weirder and weirder.

Here’s the roll call of House of Rep for Jan ‘18

Can’t you reps SURVIVE without the perks of “representing us?” You certainly don’t want to spend more time with your family; you NEED the money and bribery and status in DC. Pot is far less addicting.

Issa needs to be rejected for having Zero heads in the Issa trophy room at The House and for having successfully trained Gowdy to not provide any heads for the room either.

Couple of doofusses.

I heard an interview today with some congressman who said there are always a fair number of retirees, as if this year is not so different from past years.. He didn’t gave comparative numbers and I haven’t seen any comparisons to show how much this year exceeds previous years, if at all. But this has become an MSM meme to suggest that there are large numbers of disillusioned Republicans throwing in the towel because of Trump, so we’ll hear it on and on.

Issa led investigations into the administration’s Internal Revenue Service, the bungled “Fast and Furious” gun trading-operation and how it handled the attack in Benghazi.

He’s a RINO hero and conservative cockblocker. Stay retired Darryl/

Why is Duncan Hunter “embattled”?

A-50: Duncan D. Hunter (R) - Inland San Diego County: Escondido, Santee Likely Republican. It would take the combination of a Democratic wave and an indicted GOP incumbent to put a seat as Republican as this one anywhere near the competitive radar, but that may be where things are headed. Hunter, whose father occupied the seat before him, is under a DOJ investigation into whether he improperly used campaign funds for his kids' private school tuition and to fly a pet rabbit on a family trip, among other expenses.

Democrats have an unusually credible candidate in former Navy SEAL Josh Butner, who has served in the Gulf War, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq and was elected to his local school board in 2016. Butner's extensive service is a real asset in a district with a huge military tradition, but to have any chance, he must hope Hunter's legal problems are severe but do not force him off the ballot in 2018.

Flying a pet rabbit, vs. Zerobama flying his dog separately to Martha’s Vineyard? BFD.
