George Carlin on the Importance of Using Words that Don't Conceal Reality (s-gate)
YouTube ^ | March 23, 1990 | George Carlin

I don't like words that hide the truth. I don't like words that conceal reality. I don't like euphemisms, or euphemistic language...I'll give you an example of that.

This is from Carlin's HBO Special, "Doin' It Again." In this bit, he conducts an excellent narrative on the evils of words that "hide the truth" or "conceal reality..."

As is usual with Carlin, he's not 100% correct on everything in this clip - so caveat emptor - but his central thesis is spot-on AND HE DOESN'T CURSE!.

In the context of the current "s-gate" debate, my suspicion is that the MSM and statist lot of puritans (that abuse actresses and women in general) freaked out over the alleged word because it cuts through, clarifies, and captures the essence of the immigration discussion at hand. Or, as Jesse Watters said the other night, this is how the forgotten men and women of America talk at a bar.

I know Trump said he didn't use that word. Regardless, as Uncle George said - as have others much smarter than me - there is a time and a place for language that moves men to action.

Probably my favorite all-time Carlin rant.

I hear you: I vacillate between this one and his rant on the environment.

I think is was computer scientist Edsger Dijkstra who once said that human language was designed for making statements the nonsense of which is not obvious (and this is why human language will never be suitable for programming computers).

Indeed, last summer, two Facebook AI bots invented their own language and got shut down. Carlin would no doubt be proud.

Shit is the first word of the seven words in his `The seven words you can never say on television’ skit.
Liberals love listening to their vulgar comedians (and the women are the worst) but they act as shocked as the French cop in the movie Casablanca when a non-liberal uses one of them.

When I saw him live in the 1980s he did a 20-min rant against the Reagan Administration. I sat there, arms folded, and didn't laugh or flinch. He then moved on to other topics and I started laughing.

You take the good with the bad and hopefully, net-net-net, you're better than you were originally. With George Carlin, that was the deal.

He mainly hated hypocrites and had the most sensitive BS detector ever seen. His take on religion was a little rough, but for the most part he hit at the aspects of organized religion that turn so many away from “church”. But yes, whichever side of the political spectrum was empowered at a particular time was in store for the Carlin Treatment.

Composed a skit once which featured medical terms tha5t hide the truth: colostomy would be more factual if it was called a bagasideame; ooectomy would be more clear if it was called an ovaoutame, and so on. ...

I remember reports by Gary Aldrich, who served as a Secret Service guy in Clinton´s WhiteHouse, about the obscene language (including the F.. word) that Hillary FREQUENTLY used. The huge difference is that the MSM never reported anything bad on her, but they MAGNIFY anything bad that Trump says.

It's a valid point of view. I find myself in the same camp pretty often.
