KEEPING THE FAITH

The only survivor of a shipwreck washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.

Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.

But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stung with grief and anger. "God, how could you do this to me!" he cried.

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart. Remember, the next time your little hut is burning to the ground ... it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God.

Just when you think you can't take anymore ... the Lord steps in. (I'm sure everyone has their own personal testimony.)

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

Did you visit the lil wild man and the other doggies today or is that on the agenda for tomorrow?

The snow melted so fast that my car is now hub-deep in mud! YIKES! I hope i can get the car out tomorrow.

And it’s getting c-c-cold again!

But at least the piles of snow are gone, just in time for the next storm, which is expected Tuesday.

Penny and I will resume our walks in the Spring!

I didn't go anywhere today, I'll visit the pups and Robin tomorrow.

I just lazed out.

I'm just finishing up a movie I've seen several times before, "The Pianist", based on a true story and a very poignant movie about how the Nazis treated the Warsaw Jews during WWII and one man's ability to survive it all.

I’ve heard of “The Pianist” and heard it’s good but haven’t seen it. I’m watching “Olympus Has Fallen”, one I’ve seen before but it’s been a while. Peeking at the computer during commercials. LOL

Been a lazy day here too. Another frigid day so I didn’t want to go anywhere.
The cold’s taking a toll on wildlife. There’s a dead starling in the back yard today. I figure it succumbed to birdie pneumonia. It’s so cold and the wind just won’t stop blowing, and that makes it feel so much worse.
Another week of this lies ahead, with one warmish day in the middle. *sigh*
