Bipartisan deal would create 12-year citizenship pathway

WASHINGTON (AP) - A bipartisan agreement among a handful of senators to prevent deportation of hundreds of thousands of young immigrants includes a pathway to citizenship that would take up to 12 years.

The Associated Press on Saturday obtained details of the deal that includes $1.6 billion for structures including a wall for border security.

The agreement between three Republican and three Democratic senators would prevent deportation of hundreds of thousands of so-called Dreamers, who were brought to this country as children and are here illegally.

President Donald Trump and some GOP congressional leaders have said the bipartisan deal is insufficient. Its proponents - led by Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. - say they are continuing to round up supporters in hopes of building momentum for their plan.

Political battle lines intensified following Trump’s vulgar description of African nations and derogatory comments about Haiti at a White House meeting last Thursday, and its fate is uncertain.

We should not be rewarding people who believe we owe them something while they actively protest in our country. Many of these people are in their 20's & 30's they've been here for years, and have made 'no attempt' to become citizens...rather demanding it.

Furthermore I would love to know how many of these Daca people are currently convicts in our prison system....or have been arrested.

It needs to stop.

No benefits of any kind for illegals, period.

Employers who hire them knowingly, confiscate their business, sell the capital, disburse the funds to the taxpayers.

Any illegal convicted of crime? Max/full jail time, then deported.

one button to talk in English, the "talk" button.

No driver's license, no ssan, and if caught with one, immediate deportation.

If lawmakers have the balls, that is what needs to be done.

The result would be self deportation, and those who wish, can get in the back of the line.

Having LEGAL immigration does not mean opening up the legal spigot to wide open.

It means to carefully consider each and every applicant, to make sure there is in fact room for them, and that they will contribute to the overall health and well being of this county.

If there is no current room or need, then can halt the process until there is.

Sanctuary cities and municipalities? Arrest the mayors and local lawmakers for treason and sedition, speedy trial, and incarceration.

Where do we start?

Good question there.

We know illegal aliens are vastly over represented at our state prisons.
