Might be neither of them can win but I plan to vote for Ives unless polling indicates Rauner is appreciatively more likely to win in November.
I didn’t see it but I heard she cleaned his clock in the debate.
Putting ideology aside and just looking at electablity, re-nominating Rauner is a bigger risk than running Ives. She's fairly unknown wheres Rauner has alienated people in droves, across the political spectrum.
I've seen excerpts from the Tribune 'debate' (more of a joint sit down interview with both candidates). I thought Ives came across as a bit pushy and rude but from what I saw she did FAR better than Rauner in making a convincing argument and being knowledgeable about the issues. He was pretty much on autopilot and kept repeating the same meaningless platitudes from 2014 ("Illinois is broken"..."We need to fight for term limits", "We need strong leadership in this state"... blah blah blah) like a broken record, and she called him on it. He also had the Joe Biden habit of breaking into an annoying grin when it was clear he didn't have a response to facts he didn't like. No wonder he doesn't want to debate her in an actual debate.
Of course, knowing the "conservative" Tribune as I do, I'd be shocked if they backed a conservative challenger over a "moderate" incumbent, regardless of the fact her presentation was 10X better.
I read that many conservatives think that Ives won the debate. Moderates probably think that Rauner won it. Do you know of anyone who changed his or her mind, because of that debate?
