The latest data — for the week ending Jan. 6 — suggest the season may be peaking right now, the CDC’s director, Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald, told reporters Friday. But she warned that many more people will be infected before the season is over.
There’s a difference between an active flu season — when a large number of people get sick — and a severe season, when the numbers of people hospitalized for flu or who die from the infection are unusually high.
It can be hard to tell in real time where a flu season will fall on the severity scale, because sometimes reports of influenza hospitalization and deaths — especially deaths among children — lag.
That said, this year is starting to look like a severe season, and maybe more severe than last year, which was also bad, said Dr. Dan Jernigan, head of CDC’s influenza division.
“There’s lots of flu in lots of places,” he said.
So far, Jernigan said, this year’s season doesn’t appear to be quite as bad as 2014-15.
The influenza A virus H3N2 has caused the lion’s share of the illness in most parts of the country this year.
But recently there’s been an uptick in activity by another influenza A virus, H1N1, Jernigan said, warning that even if the season appears to have peaked, flu viruses will circulate for weeks to come and people should continue to take precautions against getting infected.
Jernigan said that people over the age of 65 are being hospitalized for flu this season more than any other population. Even people age 50 to 64 are being hospitalized in high numbers.

I know a nurse at the local VA and she won’t take the flu shot. The last time I almost got a flu shot was in the 80s when someone brilliant decided that they would give soldiers a double dose of the Swine flu shot .... as they were passing out and taken to the hospital, I just signed my card and left.
I have congestive heart failure so it scares me, too

Some of the patients getting hit with this are getting what’s called a “cytokine storm” where the immune system goes on overdrive and causes organ damage.
Run it by the docs. Steroids help but ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers help when it hits the lungs.
Was told that this one is within a short bit of the Spanish flu. That one produced so much mucus that they drowned from that.
This week is the 8th week I have had the after effects of it. It started as the usual cough, plugged ears, extreme sore throat, periods of alternate sweats and chills, the feeling of being hit by a train, etc. Then came the trots, and all the rest. The dam dry unproductive cough that is uncontrollable is the worst I have ever had. Its finally getting better, except I still cant stop coughing, and gagging from that-sometimes so much that I dam near pass out.

Yes. I got the flu shot on sept 28th and got sick late nov.
It could even be strong lung exercises and not necessarily full body cardio for some who can’t do that. Like a farmer burns breathing which can be done even if you are sitting down. Would be hard to do once the flu has hit your lungs but even just before that point I’d do these every couple hours or others like them to keep the airways healthy.

There’s a video there. There are other great breathing exercises too but they need to be strong ones, using the force of the abdominals. I know someone who healed themselves from asthma using these.
Again, this is for people who don’t yet have the flu and want to prevent any flu from finishing off your lungs into pneumonia or death. Keep the lungs pumping.
Same here. NEVER had a flu shot. NEVER see a doctor. And I never got the flu. When I feel some bug coming on (rare) I fast and drink tons of purified, non-flouridated water. Bug usually subsides within 2 or 3 days. The only people I know who got the flu, got a flu shot. Duh.
It would be interesting to know how many freepers have this crap.
It seems like a lot. I’d also like to see, of those down with it, who did or didn’t have the flu vaccine.

I did NOT get a flu shot...and I’ve got some form of the flu
The wife has had it for 19 days. Nasty bug. I had the shot and while I didn’t escape it, it was very mild for about a week for me.
She got up to 101.6 and I hammered her with liquids, Tylenol, juice etc and then got her to the Doctor. Still after two weeks she is still coughing. Went to a concert today, first trip out of the house except a short run to the grocery store or Doctor since the 30th.
How did you get the thieves oil (similar combo) into you? Orally or ? We tend to rub it on the feet before the patient goes to sleep. Can’t do it on someone who might slip in the night though unless they would keep socks on.
I have healed from a repeating case of strep throat with a paste of raw garlic, raw honey, and cayenne. It was amazing. Had to just it for a couple weeks, taking little teaspoons or so every time I thought about it. But the strep went away and never came back. Their antibiotics, two rounds of it, only made the bugs stronger.
Thimerosal is used in vaccines as a “preservative.” Thimerosal is mercury. Mercury is one of the most deadly poisons known to man!
