Did that new poll about blacks and Trump drive Durbin over the edge?

The latest black support numbers for President Trump are interesting but not surprising:

Two new polls show President Donald Trump's rising support among black voters, highlighting his political gains from pushing employers to hire Americans instead of lower-wage migrants.

The growing support from blacks – despite furious Democratic claims of racism – could become a shocking political validation in November when Trump will face millions of upper-income Democratic voters who are angry at his "Buy American, Hire American" policies.

Among black men, Trump's "2017 average approval rating significantly exceeds his 2016 vote share," admitted a January 11 article in the Atlantic by author Ronald Brownstein.  "[Twenty-three] percent of black men approved of Trump's performance versus 11 percent of black women," said the article.

That score averages out to 17 percent, or twice the 8 percent score he was given in the 2016 exit polls.

In November 2016, Trump got 13 percent support among black men and 4 percent support among black women, according to the exit polls.  That very low support was critical to his victory in the Democrats' now[] demolished "Blue Wall" states.

The poll was "a cumulative analysis of 605,172 interviews SurveyMonkey conducted with Americans in 2017," according to the Atlantic.

What will this mean in 2018?  Probably not a lot in black-majority districts that the GOP will not even fight for.  However, it may tip a close Senate election in Missouri, Indiana, or Ohio.

Looking forward to 2020, these numbers may not hold, but it is enough to drive an identity politics specialist like Senator Durbin to play the race card.

Black citizens are part of the American community - they don’t want illegals taking their jobs either...

No. Durbin’s turban has been too tight for a couple of decades, now.

Dems, of all elected levels, CANNOT WIN without the black vote.

If even just a small fraction, 25%, goes to the (R) candidates, they are toast.................

Dirty Little Secret: Blacks don’t much like Hispanics, and vice-versa. As a wedge issue this could bust the Dem Party to smithereens. They won’t see it coming as in their minds only white people are capable of being racist.

Exactly. They want jobs and a safe place to live, just like almost every other citizen of this country.

That’s why the Hispanic population is eyeing places like Compton and Watts parts of Los Angeles—and the blacks resent it. It’s not a coincidence that places like East Los Angeles and Santa Fe Springs are starting to quickly gentrify, while the black-dominated parts of the Los Angeles basin has not completely recovered from the riots of the 1960’s.

The black male segment of the black community is still largely a very masculine and macho culture (I wish white males were the same, in fact). It’s not surprising that an increasing number of black males would warm up to him, his style, and his message.

In 1997, Rudy Giuliani (a comparable dominant male personality for purposes of the discussion) won 20% of the black male vote in very democratic NYC. He had results that were clear and unambiguous. It can be done.

Also, while there’s talk of Oprah and Kamala Harris running or the presidency, I think they will run into a similar black male voter problem. I don’t think black men will vote for a black woman in the same numbers as they voted for a white democrat woman (or for a black or white democrat man, for that matter). I think this is also true for Hispanic males.

Maybe I’m wrong. I think in 2020 Trump will have won more support from black & Hispanic males no matter who the Democrat nominee.

And Trump is making America great again for them too. Economics will “trump” all the rest in the end, and Trump owns the vastly improved US economy.

Obama did NOTHING for black Americans, and some of them are starting to realize it.

Dick Durbin has misunderestimted President Trump yet again.

Like all liberal Democrats, Sen. Durbin has not a CLUE to the real reasons for Trump’s apparent popularity among both those who openly support him, and the “silent ones” who take their support inside the voting booth. None on the left can conceive of the unshakable faith that these open and silent supporters have in Trump, and even one-time “Never-Trumper” Republicans begin to see the wisdom and very real benefits of the programs that Donald J. Trump, the “anti-politician”, has put into motion, even with some of them coming to fruition.

The very palpable contempt that the dwellers and denizens of Manhattan, and other “blue” islands scattered about the nation all the way to the West Coast, have for most anybody from Queens is showing through in their now very threadbare ideology.

A goodly number of Trump supporters agree with the assessment that in many ways Donald Trump is an SOB, but they also mutter, “He’s OUR SOB.”

You might be able to convince a small number of the black males to vote a little differently, but good luck with black females. That was the most one-sided voting group in the 2016 election, and I don't see that changing anytime soon, even if their financial situation improves measaurably.

Yes.
But that is the reason why Durbin and his liberal lowlife buddies step up their efforts to play race card and stir up racial hatred.

If Trump were to crack 20% of the black vote, the Democrats would be finished - if the Republicans don’t commit suicide first.

Unfortunately, the GOP is willing to die if their death removes Trump in the process.

We had a black area in our town. Had been black as long as anyone could remember. Now it’s Hispanic. Drove through there a few years ago and nothing but mamacitas pushing strollers with a few kids hanging on. All the grocery stores, etc. are Mexican.

In 2020 the Black vote will still be 95% socialist.

No, he went over the edge decades ago and is in free fall now looking back at a very distant edge ...
