Former White House strategist Steve Bannon has reached agreement with U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller to be interviewed by Mueller’s investigators rather than appearing before a grand jury, a source familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.
Bannon, who was a close adviser during President Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign and in his first months in office, had been subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury in Mueller’s probe of links between Russia and Trump’s campaign.
But the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Mueller offered Bannon the option of being interviewed instead and Bannon accepted. It was unclear when the interview would take place.

Well, if the indications that Bannon is still Navy Intel, the transportation logistics arm of the Deep State, then this will be just another meeting of the Cabal.

Bannon is a wild card, playing both sides so far. The biggest bomb he potentially has to drop, in the public domain as of now, is his claim he thinks that the Russians who met with Jr. in the Tower also met with Trump, as he claimed per the Wolff book. But he wasn’t even part of the team then, so it’s second hand at best. My guess is Wolff misquoted him, but I wouldn’t trust Bannon either. Remains to be seen what Bannon may or may not say now, and chances are he won’t go quietly.
There was already a report (rumor) that Bannon told the House Intel Committee that the comment about Don Jr. taking the Russian lawyer to meet Trump was just speculation, i.e., Bannon has zero knowledge of any such event. But it was an idiotic thing to say, especially in the current climate.

This Bannon interview, following so closely on the heels of the kerfluffle over the Bannon quotes in the book tells me Mueller’s crack team is rudderless and fishing around for what to do next. Suddenly some noise about Bannon. Let’s interview him!
