I've believed for some time that Paddock was involved in human trafficking, and the continuous gambling was a means to launder the income from that. If he were trafficking guns, he would not have needed to buy semi-autos from local gun stores.

The slow-walk coverup from the Vegas shooting is probably due to some very important people - probably mostly Saudis - being implicated as customers for Paddock.

Speaking of Paddock’s financial transactions, the report provides virtually no details on his activities in that area. The cops dutifully report the pair of $50K transfers to his girlfriend in the Philippines (from his Wells Fargo account), but no info on other transfers, deposits, withdrawals, etc.

The report also notes that Paddock gambled large sums of money on a recurring basis, and while he wasn’t a “whale,” the casinos clearly courted his business. It’s a certainty the cops know how much the won and lost in the casinos, but those details have been omitted. Likewise, there are reports that the amount of money Paddock gambled was well beyond what he could support with a personal fortune of roughly $8 million. So, where did the extra money come from, and how did he obtain it. Obviously, authorities know, but they’re not saying.

The “kiddie porn” headline was clearly intended to send the media pack barking up that tree, and divert attention away from a lot of key questions that remain unanswered.

Also, if I’m not mistaken, someone who knew Paddock (perhaps his ex-wife) stated that the killer sold his last real estate property around 2010. Obviously, if she was the source, she may have been mistaken. On the other hand, if her info was correct, it’s a bit surprising that (a) she had so much insight into the dealings of someone she divorced more than 20 years earlier, and (b) it raises even more questions about his finances.

Even with an $8 million nest egg, most people (at some point) will learn to live off the income stream from that portfolio. But Paddock kept spending and gambling freely, at levels (some claim) were well above his available resources. Still too many unanswered questions about the shooter’s money, how he obtained it, and if gambling sprees were his preferred method for laundering it.
