It’s actually amazing that she’s lived this long with it, let alone not being blind or on dialysis.
We should give her credit for becoming so successful in life and living so long with such a shitty disease.

Well stated. No one deserves Type 1, and it’s impressive she has gotten this far. Just sad that she’s poisoned by leftist ideology.
Averaging various recent sources, I’d say life expectancy in 2018, for a woman with 1 diabetes is probably up to 69-70 years, especially if that woman has access to “the best” care.
“Productive” expectancy I cannot find much information on...
I should add - given her weight, taking 5 years off that estimate is likely about right.
I lost a Father to Type 2 and have known several others with 1 or 2 and what I have observed is that MOST folks cannot go 25-30 years without serious organ damage, mostly the heart.
So for her to go 50+ years with type1 makes her one for the books.
