So we're in for another bit of high-stakes shutdown theatre, as evil moustache-twirling Republicans (it's always Republicans, even when it's Democrats) strap the lovely damsel of Big Government to the tracks just as the Friday midnight express is rounding the bend. At his press conference today, however, Mick Mulvaney, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, said that this time round they'd be working to minimize the impact of the shutdown - whereas, last time round, for political reasons, the White House set out to maximize it. Mr Mulvaney called this "weaponizing the shutdown" - which the Obama Administration certainly did, up to the point of seizing and detaining blameless foreigners - which is, oddly, what they now accuse Trump of doing. If a government shuts down in the forest and nobody hears it, that's the sound of liberty dying. The so-called shutdown is, as noted last week, mostly baloney: Eighty-three percent of the supposedly defunded government is carrying on as usual, impervious to whatever restraints the people's representatives might wish to impose, and the 800,000 soi-disant "non-essential" workers have been assured that, as soon as the government is once again lawfully funded, they will be paid in full for all the days they've had at home.

Not going to work. It’s just giving more time for all who want to read. As soon as Republican representative have finished reading, it will go to a vote on the floor and then they will vote to release it.
I’ve worked in companies where business slowed and everybody was sent home the last two weeks of the year, but NO PAY. Sometimes execs didn’t get paid and workers did. But everybody understood that was better than layoffs.
Where the hell does the government get off “shitting down” and paying everybody for their nice days off at home?

His kids brought him. He was kind of shocked. He was one of the first voices on the right to note the reality of Trump's strengths, as well as the groundswell of support he was getting from the base.
He got me to perk up and solidify my own (relatively early) jump onto the Trump train.

He’s right. Take responsibility and remove the 60 vote rule and force the budget and anything else the conservatives want through without a single democrat vote.
Schumer would not hesitate to do the same if the roles were reversed.

Last time they closed some pit toilets on Corps of Engineers facilities because no one would be able to maintain them. Volunteers offered to restock the TP out of their own pockets, but no. Needed to make people miserable so they’d appreciate gummint more.
Unfortunately, the “Q” infantile crypto-babble is starting to become the norm.
President Trump might ring a chord by announcing that federal parks, monuments and memorials are free admission for the duration of the shutdown. Maybe even authorize a distribution of small US constitutions to the people who attend.
Schumer, Pelosi, Waters, and the rest of the Demonicrats hate America, especially for electing Donald Trump as President, and they will do everything they can to destroy the United States, until they are tried, convicted, sentenced, and publicly hanged for treason.
