Pleas no. Oklahoma has none, thank goodness but they do have a monument or two and they would surely mess that up and still never have enough money to operate it. They have already turned some things over to the tribes and most of them haven’t got a clue what to do.
One of the major “asteroid watching” groups is at the University of Arizona at their observatory on Mt. Lemmon.
Looking at their web site it seems a lot of their funding is other than NASA and wont stop because of the shut down.
But what the heck, you wouldn’t expect CNN to actually research anything would you?
