Full title:

'I'm leaving the Democratic Party today': Democrats are infuriated by their own party's deal with the GOP to reopen the government

Many Democrats are incensed about the deal Senate Democrats reached with Republicans on Monday, the third day of a shutdown, to reopen the government.

On Monday, a bipartisan group of senators — including 33 Democrats — led by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reached an agreement to fund the government until February 8.

The senators agreed to the deal in exchange for a promise from the GOP to vote on legislation to codify the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which protects from deportation about 700,000 undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers and is set to expire on March 5.

But many Democratic lawmakers and activists, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Kamala Harris of California, denounced the deal, arguing that Democrats couldn't trust Republican leaders to fulfill their promises on immigration, the issue at the heart of the disagreement between the parties.

Everyone who is "incensed" by this deal lives in, or represents a safe Democrat District or State.

But for those 10 Dim Senators in states won by Trump, they saw only imminent disaster and were putting severe pressure on Schumer. There were probably another 3-4 who feel at risk over immigration, even in blue states.

Freepers! It's OK to gloat and rub their noses in it.

Personally, I think trump and the Republicans are being a little too generous.

I agree, knowing them they gave the Rats something in return, and we’ll find out what it is soon enough.

I do not trust McConnell. The cabal that passed the CR may be the ones that bring us amnesty.

I was enjoying the schadenfreude on DUmp earlier, some brave soul even started a thread saying they should “give Trump his border wall” in exchange for saving DACA.

How about border wall and NO DACA?

“The Republicans caved.”

Nonsense.

The Dims got nothing.

Nothing but a promise of open debate in Senate and a vote on “immigration”.

No assurances from POTUS and nothing from the House.

Dims got their ass handed to them and Republicans gave up nothing.

Sheesh, wake up.

Schumer made the deal to end the shutdown, because the Schumer Shutdown meme was sticking to him. He thought it better to head it off than to let it continue. It was basically self preservation.

Chuck ‘Barney Fife’ Schumer had one bullet and he used it to shoot himself in the foot.

Subtracting the regular weekend closures, the actual shutdown totaled about 8 hours — the Monday workday.

These are the people who were going to leave the country if Trump was elected.

Their only option other than DemWorld is the Communist Party of America.

How did it go from 800K to 700K? Most likely it is really 3-4 million votes.

Remember all the media stories about how incensed Republicans were when they caved to Obama and how the GOP was in the wrong?

Yeah - I don’t either.

“Personally, I think trump and the Republicans are being a little too generous.”

I agree.

I talk at work to about 20 Americans a day in a totally Blue state. They are not happy about immigration at all. They realize the Middle Class is footing the bill. (If they don’t, I give them a nudge. LOL. But I think it’s working.)
