Hawaii Democratic Gov. David Ige said Monday that one of the reasons it took so long to inform the public that a ballistic missile alert in the state was in fact a false alarm was because he couldnt remember his Twitter password.
Ige was notified two minutes after the alert was sent to mobile devices across the state, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser, but was unable to send out communications stating the illegitimacy of the original alert for 17 minutes.
I have to confess that I dont know my Twitter account log-ons and the passwords, so certainly thats one of the changes that Ive made, Ige said during his State of the State address. Ive been putting that on my phone so that we can access the social media directly.
While many public officials have their staff members manage and operate their social media accounts, it wasnt clear if that was the case in this situation, or why such employees of the governors office werent readily available to access Iges Twitter profile.
It ultimately took 38 minutes for authorities to officially announce that the urgent notification was a mistake caused by human error, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The false emergency alert sent yesterday in Hawaii was absolutely unacceptable, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai said in a statement. It caused a wave of panic across the stateworsened by the 38-minute delay before a correction alert was issued.

Speaking of someone who needs to be evaluated to determine whether he is mentally fit for office...
Perfect example of a Dem Imbecile politician. His twitter account was more important than an emergency.
Doesn’t Twitter have a Remember Me or Remain Signed In option? I’m pretty sure you don’t have to type your password in every time you open the app on your phone.
Why didn’t the governor just call up a couple of radio and tv stations and have them make the announcements?
I hate when that happens ...
Member of the Choom Gang?
Wrought.
Should have used “Password” as his password..John Podesta did
Yeah but he’s a Democrat, therefore he’s immune from those questions
“...you mean like with a cloth”
User competency or lack thereof is not an excuse. Neither is twittering.
My thought exactly.
Sounds like a tight ship they’re running over there - like the Titanic
Typical Democrat. Clueless, but brazen and on board with all the national party’s corrupt schemes. Hawaii voters will not hold him to account.
CAN YOU SAY "INCOMPETENT???
WTF IS A GOVERNOR DOING ON TWITTER DURING A POTENTIAL MASS DESTRUCTION EVENT?
Can you say "imbecile??"
If the citizens of Hawaii don't recall this clown, their stupidity deserves whatever fate awaits them...
I can excuse somebody for not knowing their twitter password, but good gravy, how long does it take the governor of a state to give a phone call to the news media?
I couldnt let everyone know because.....because......well.....I couldnt find my socks.
