There was an incredibly good book by Michael Crichton that really detailed little-known facts about Victorian England. One was that theyd stitch up the young-looking prostitutes so they could be virgins over and over again.
They are often shocked not only at what was going on but that it happened under cover of law.
And then there is the other side of it where we think that we have advanced only to find that we are actually treading a well worn path of virtue that was laid down in the misty past.
