Durbin Statement On White House Immigration Proposal
U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) ^ | 1.26.18 | U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL)

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s immigration proposal, which was presented to the press this evening. The White House has scheduled a briefing on the plan for Senator Durbin and others this coming Monday afternoon.

"Dreamers should not be held hostage to President Trump’s crusade to tear families apart and waste billions of American tax dollars on an ineffective wall. After four and a half months, his Administration finally says it has a plan to solve the crisis he created when he ended DACA. The White House claims to be compromising because the President now agrees with the overwhelming majority of Americans that Dreamers should have a pathway to citizenship. But his plan would put the Administration’s entire hardline immigration agenda—including massive cuts to legal immigration—on the backs of these young people.

"Republicans have just fourteen days to work with Democrats to reach a bipartisan agreement to pass the Dream Act and solve the DACA crisis. The President himself acknowledged two weeks ago that this must be addressed first, before any attempt to turn to comprehensive immigration reform. Bipartisan negotiations continue in Congress to get that done now."

The Trump Administration terminated DACA on September 5th and called for Congress to come up with a legislative solution before March 5th.

Tsk tsk.....Durbin said crusade. Liberals such as Durbin have told us we can’t say crusade for fear of offending Muslims.

“Republicans have just fourteen days to work with Democrats to reach a bipartisan agreement”

Yeah - that, or 14 days to get the buses ready to load up the foreign criminals and send ‘em back.

Logic and reason epic fail;

Durbin said..:
“Dreamers should not be held hostage to President Trump’s crusade to tear families apart”
1. Since Durbin is talking about bringing in extended families, then they are already “ broken apart”
3. Since these dreamers were brought here by their “parents”, who is actually responsible for “breaking them up”?

Damn sure it isn’t a Trump.

In any case it the job of these alleged Dreamers’ parents to figure out a solution. Not Trump, nor America’s.

Ten bucks says he would spike the needle off the paper if hooked up to a polygraph.

Why have Schumer and Feinstein et al designated Dick-Head Turban Durbin as the Dem front man for this issue? Same question goes for why Lindsey Graham seems to be the spokesman on the GOP side. These two are lowlife back-benchers to the back-benchers.

They are not being held hostage. They are free to leave the country at any time.

My grandsons have dreams too. But as WCHM (white, Christian, heterosexual, male), they are not part of the Democrat’s future.

I have looked, as best I can, to find what a Democrat supported Dream Act would look like. I only see the words, clean-fair-permanent etc but no specific description. No mention of total amnesty, citizenship, or anything describing their firm position on what a dream act would look like.

So we now know Trump's starting position on a DACA solution but no counter as the dems won't negotiate as long as the wall etc. is included in the solution. WTF?

My guess is they will only accept total amnesty. Immediate path to citizenship and no security or changes to the current immigration loopholes.

Anything less will not be tolerated.

"The White House claims to be compromising because the President now agrees with the overwhelming majority of Americans that Dreamers should have a pathway to citizenship."

This'll probably be a shock, perhaps even to some FReepers, but ...

THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PATH TO CITIZENSHIP !

A path is not amnesty, it's a way to walk, to travel, to actually DO or GO somewhere.

Have we forgotten the phrase; "Obey the immigration laws" ?

The path has always been on the books but it never included nor meant being given citizenship.

Republicans have just fourteen days to work with Democrats to reach a bipartisan agreement...

ALWAYS REMEMBER: To a DemocRAT: "bipartisan" means total capitulation to our demands.

Curious! "Republicans have just fourteen days"? little Dicky Turban never says "we Democrats have just fourteen days to work with Republicans..."

Trump wins again!!! These guys are so out classed it almost hurts reading about it.
Trump offers 1.1 M over DACA and gets it slammed in his face. Now you get deported and it’s on the Dems.
