Democrat is a noun. Democratic is an adjective.

Noun that has the force of an adjective - consider “Cub fan,”
“bus stop,” etc.

Exactly. We say: “Are those Democrats or Republicans?” We don’t say: “Are those Democratics or Republicans?”
