My favorite part of Beetle Bailey was when Sarge would beat the crap out of him all the time. When I was a kid, I thought it was so funny how Beetle ended up all in a heap with his arms and legs poking out all different directions with smoke coming off him. Yeah, I always enjoyed that, too. Later on, I used to get annoyed when the strip would go for days focusing on Sarge's lookalike dog, Otto. That always seemed like Mort was "phoning it in".
Yea. You had suffer through those types to get to the good ones when Beetle was being a smart ass, pissing off Sarge, and takin's his ass whoopins. Man. It must be hard to think of a funny comic every SINGLE day for so many years. I might even run out of material after that long.
