Kelli Ward: Ronald Reagan’s Biggest Regret Was Granting Amnesty and Trusting Congress

FULL TITLE:Kelli Ward: Ronald Reagan’s Biggest Regret Was Granting Amnesty and Trusting Congress on Border Security

“President Reagan’s biggest regret as president was granting amnesty and then trusting Congress to deliver on border security,” said 2018 Republican Senate candidate Kelli Ward, expressing opposition to the White House’s recently released amnesty proposal.

Ward’s comments came in an interview with Breitbart News’s Washington Political Editor Matt Boyle on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday.

“We have to learn from our history,” advised Ward. “In 1986, Ronald Reagan–great president, amazing conservative, lover of liberty and of America–granted amnesty; and Ed Rollins, who is helping me with my campaign, told me that President Reagan’s biggest regret as president was granting amnesty and then trusting Congress to deliver on border security. It didn’t happen then, and it’s not going to happen now if we do this in the wrong order.”

Amnesty advocates seek to mislead Americans with the euphemisms “permanent solution” and “comprehensive immigration reform” as rhetorical rebrandings of amnesty, said Ward.

The false claim that the good one can’t win so Republican voters have to support the bad one in the primary is textbook globalist GOPe propaganda.

IIRC, I never heard Reagan pushing congress to secure the border after he granted the amnesty.

Trump’s amnesty is not going to be based on an open-ended promise to act sometime in the future. He’s going to get something big for it or it’s not going to happen.

A the time Reagan signed the abortion bill, no one was really aware of the depths of Planned Parenthood’s depravity.

They were then and are now the masters of deceit.

They played on Reagan’s good nature......they assured Reagan the procedure would be performed only in the very early stages of a pregnancy and ONLY for the most dire reasons.

If Trump is serious about fixing immigration he would simply state that, effective immediately, the unconstitutional DACA program ends and an aggressive deportation process begins. It will be left up to Congress to send the President an acceptable bill that addresses DACA and other immigration issues. At a minimum the legislation must include provisions that end the visa lottery, chain migration, and full funding for a border wall. Ending DACA immediately should get Congress moving.

Sadly, Ward likely couldn’t beat Sinema

Why do you believe that? Because she is the first openly Bi-Sex Rep? Ya the young millenials with heads full of mush (e.g. from Tempe and Tucson) will vote for that just like they voted for the first Halfrican President.

I am so glad I am on this end of the life calendar!!

Don’t bother trying to intrupt the pearl clutchers. They are having a good tantrum and don’t want to visit Realville any time soon.

full funding for a border wall

This is precisely what did NOT happen with the Secure Fence Act of 2006 under President Georgie "I want open borders" Bush.

I’m a big fan of Reagan but I don’t believe the author’s premise here. He and his administration knew exactly what this country was getting out of that amnesty bill.

Exactly. The reason the Dems are so apoplectic is they thought they were going to roll POTUS on DACA with another amnesty 3 card confidence trick.

That POTUS is insisting that $25 billion in CASH money be appropriated for the wall in any DACA deal has them hysterically tantruming. The longer this goes on the worse it looks for the Dems because it’s clear all they want is the issue and not legal status for the “Dreamers”
