Rep. Trey Gowdy, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Affairs, said Sunday he wants the two FBI officials whose anti-Trump text messages were revealed to testify before lawmakers. He also dropped some hints about what's in the secret FISA memo.
To start, Gowdy commented on the FBI officials' messages that showed they hated then-candidate Donald Trump. He wants answers as to whether their positions were powerful enough to have actually affected the election.
I cant prove that they were the final decision makers, Gowdy told Fox News Sunday. But I dont have to. Two really important people hated (Trump); would have done anything to protect Hillary Clinton.
Noting that Peter Strzok interviewed the former secretary of state about her use of a private email server and took out language about her being grossly negligent from the final FBI report on the investigation, Gowdy wondered how much influence he had.
Did they have the power to protect her? he asked. The decision not to charge (Clinton) was made even before they interviewed her. How would you like that deal?
Gowdy did not speculate about whether there was actually an FBI secret society as one text revealed, or if it was a joke.
Republicans are better served by letting the texts speak for themselves, he said. These witnesses need to come in and tell us what they meant by it.
As for the secret memo on government surveillance abuses, Gowdy said he wants it released and gave some clues at what the four-page document contains.
If you think your viewers want to know whether or not the dossier was used in court proceedings, whether or not it was vetted before it was used, whether or not its ever been vetted. If you are interested in who paid for the dossier. If youre interested in Christopher Steeles relationship with Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee, then, yes, youll want the memo to come out, Gowdy explained.
Do you want to know that the Democratic National Committee paid for material that was never vetted, that was included in a court proceeding? he continued.
Do you want to know whether or not the primary source in these court proceedings had a bias against one candidate? Do you want to know whether or not he said hed do anything to keep that candidate from becoming president?
Gowdy was supportive of the FBI and Department of Justice reviewing the memo before it's released, but said those agencies are aware of the information in it.
Theres nothing in this memo the Department is not already aware of, he said.
I reckon we’ll find out before long if the Rats leak it in order to disrupt the Republican’s official release process. Anarchy is about all they have left, short of rioting in the halls of Congress and lighting their desks on fire.
Trey ‘All Bark No Bite’ Gowdy.
I’ll believe Gowdy when I see some action from him. His mishandling of the Hillary Clinton/Benghazi affair was sickening.
That, and they could start defecating in the halls.
Yep, that tells me the "explosive" memo is probably a dud.
“I don’t recall.”
“I plead the Fifth.”
That is a preview of any appearance by any of the FBI agents involved.
Also, why are they still employed by our government if this is what they did, wrote and how they feel?
Dunno about the halls but I suspect some undergarments will be soiled after the memo is released!
I did some FOIAs, for applications on another matter. It was interesting who had signed the application. The trail led back through time of who was that person.
Gowdy just hammered Chris’s attempt to neutralize the evidence.
Gowdy is taking the most direct path to uncontested convictions.
Dropping the investigation of Hillary’s email crime(s) unduly influenced the election.
The FISa judge would sign off on the warrant. The people presenting the case for the warrant have to swear to its veracity.
Those people are going to find themselves in deep Sh!t.
My guess is they start having hoolagans and troublemakers as invited guests on capital hill, and calling for storming the gates - daring the sergeant-at-arms to order the capitol police to open fire.
Per reg, Trey is Gowdy Doodie.
Given Goudy's theatrical bent coupled with the stupid party's inclination to let good political fruit rot on the vine, I'd say the chances are 50% or better that you're right. Rather than ripe fruit, the memo may turn out to be more like prunes for the politically constipated.
I watched his interview on FNC yesterday. Near the end of the interview, he talked about how honest an fair (paraphrasing here) Mueller is. That little steaming chunk of horse $hit completely nullified anything he said before that. He likes to talk tough, but he gets cold feet when it’s time to act.
+1
Whenever I see his name in a headline, I ignore the contents.
The barking is accepted method of alerting the voters. The voters are then expected to make the necessary changes.
The memo is still “CLASSIFIED”. He has to be careful of what he says and how he says it.
