Just think. If it weren’t for ELECTRICITY, Andrea Mitchell would be sweeping floors with a broom, washing dishes and clothes by hand, reading by candlelight, and possibly doing piecework in a sewing factory filled with treadle machines 12 hours a day as she struggles to feed her ever-growing brood of hungry children while her husband digs ditches and hauls heavy loads all day and spends tired evenings at the local pub drowning his sorrows with cheap beer, and the only “NEWS” is the Towne Crier or a few broadsides handed out because of MR. Lets see now Andrea...there are the coal miners themselves,the people who sell supplies to the mine and maintain the machines,the people who drive the coal trucks and the stations were they purchase fuel and buy ties,then there are the people who work at the coal yards,then there are all the folks that work on the trains and the railroads....etc...then there are the folks who like heat and light in the Winter.
