Gowdy quitting? What does he have to hide? I’d guess plenty. Those who are making money off the Swamp are jumping ship.

Gowdy has made it known repeatedly that he does not like working in Congress.
He is a prosecutor and an honest man. This is not a surprise. Gowdy can serve better without the limitations of congressional rules.
A decent hair cut, perhaps ?
Serving in Congress was NEVER meant to be a life appointment. The citizen-legislator goes to Washington, serves one or two terms, and returns to his home state, revered and held in high esteem by his former constituents, as his successor picks up and delivers another one or two terms for those constituents.
There remains a strong allure to the powers of incumbency, because of a misplaced emphasis on seniority within the House and Senate. Also, a district that is emphatically of one party affiliation or another, tends to return incumbents with annoying frequency.
