Anyone who was inclined to downplay the thing has been drowned in a tidal wave of flopsweat. The Dems were hoping to ride the impeachment thing all the way to a majority in ‘18 - it isn’t much of a plan but it’s the one they chose because it looked like as sure a thing as a Hillary victory looked like in ‘16. Which, I suppose, it is.
