Yes. Not just yet though, more needs to come to the public view.

The reason a special counsel is needed is that both Sessions and Rosenstein will be viewed as too partisan, having an axe to grind against the elements of the outgoing administration who done them wrong during and after the campaign.

One nice thing about a special counsel, he, unlike the OIG, will have the power to bring charges. I'd say bring a special counsel just before Horowitz OIG report comes out. Special counsel would be appointed to investigate a select few for potential crimes; but could expand inquiry into wrongdoings depending on evidence. OIG report will have TONS of evidence.

No apology needed. I think this is the first time I've expressed any thoughts on the subject. Those are off the cuff, not well thought through.

I expect Congress and some pundits will start to clamor for a SC, just as happened with the "Russian collusion" frameup.
