A Russian pilot was killed Saturday after his warplane went down over Syria's northwest province of Idlib and he clashed with Islamists on the ground, Russia's defence ministry and a monitor said.
"The pilot was killed as he fought Islamist rebels who had shot down his plane and were taking him captive," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights chief Rami Abdel Rahman.
According to the British-based monitor, the Sukhoi 25 was shot down over the town of Maasran in Idlib and the pilot came down in a parachute.

“Hummm, not so good for everybody. “
How so?
So much for selective bombing
One good thing about the Russians
They will find the killers
And they will pay
These islamist rebs must not have recognized the value of a live Russian pilot or the cost of a dead one
don’t whizz off the bear....KABOOM KABOOM
There are a few things I admire about the Russians.
Their no-nonsense un-PC efficacious way they deal with koranimals in among the best...

My prediction: There will be many dead Syrian rebels in the near future.
That same efficiency applies to government purges of uppity political groups. Putin and Xi must be laughing at how delicately Trump, by some accounts the most powerful man in the world, handles the A-Holes in the Dem Party and the press.
A shootout with the terrorists is probably preferable to being taken alive. Good judgment on the pilot's part.
Vecchnaya Pamjat--Memory Eternal!
Well the US is a republic and Russia and China are dictatorships. You think we should be more like them?
If you lived in Russia you would know:
A) A lot of Russian soldiers ARE Muslim. Guest workers otherwise known as “Gastarbeiters” from Central Asia and other former USSR states in hopes of benefits, pay, citizenship. This also keeps pressure off Putin from population that is growing more and more weary of seeing their own kids go off to battle in these foreign wars.
B) Syria War issue in general is not popular with Russian population.
C) Young Russian serviceman are hardly the macho-types steretypes make em out to be. And they love America.
D) A viral video of young cadets in training parodying a tacky German dance song “Satisfaction” — made its rounds around youtube last week and inspired a bunch of spoofs by people ranging from Olympic athletes to granny babushkas. But also sociological analysis about the true moral standing of Putin youth...it landed them in hot water, but no expulsions:
The NY times covered the phenomenon “What a homoerotic video can tell us about modern Russia.”

RT, Newsweek, and others share the original video:

Probably shot down by a Russian made rocket.
Gotta wonder where these ‘rebels’ got the technology and the ability to use it to shoot down a fighter jet.

Yep, and their love grows stronger each day of observing the ‘Russia’ frenzy on CNN. Not to mention certain Congressmen sending arms to Islamists to kill them. /s

You certainly like faggotry. Don’t you, Rose?
It's about 4 young British Muslim guys trying to play tough guys as Muslim terrorist.

My sentiments exactly.
Best to go down fighting.
Russian Pilot killed in Syria was ‘Roman Fillipov’. from Crimea who served in the Ukrainian Air Force and joined the Russian Air Force after the annexation.
My observation is independent of my answer to your question. Is my observation accurate or not?
