Putins got an election and the Russians don’t want to keep funding and fighting wars, especially after the pull out. So anything Russia would do now will be through a ‘back door’.
Then Russia just turns back on the air control system and shoots down the Turks.

Free Syrian Army. The group who conducted the attack is an FSA affiliated militia. The CIA supported them throughout Obamas last term, with McCain as the most vocal supporter despite their ties to ISIS and Al Queda. Trump cut them off and has backed Kurdish YPG.
