I have no illusions of what Russia is, but they have no trouble pulling the trigger when such things happen.
I found a very interesting article this afternoon by Maxim A Suchkov in Al-Monitor. Will be posting an excerpt from it here on FR in a moment.

There are things in the article that I dispute, but overall it is pretty well thought out. It shows much of Russia’s logic. Of course, it is focused upon what is in Russia’s interest.
