Here's how FBI Director Christopher Wray's independence protects Trump from Robert Mueller

While President Trump and FBI Director Christopher Wray aren’t happy with one another, Trump’s appointment of Wray has never been more personally valuable to the president.

Why? By showing independence from the White House and resisting Trump's pressure on the FBI, Wray is confirming that Trump made a good and prudent decision in appointing him as director.

*snip*

Now that the individual the president chose to replace Comey is showing such independence from Trump, any Trump courtroom lawyer will have a pretty compelling line of defense for the president.

Namely, he or she could tell a jury, “if my client was so determined to obstruct justice, what possible rationale did he have for firing Comey then appointing someone who was so committed to that which the prosecution says Comey was originally fired for: the objective pursuit of justice? Surely if the prosecution’s case is true,” the lawyer might say, “the president would have picked a more malleable character and relied on the Republican Senate majority to push that confirmation through? He did not because this was never about obstruction.”

Again, the operative fact here is that Wray was well-regarded as an objective public servant during his confirmation hearings and is even more so regarded now.

Truly is a mental disorder...the dims were and are the crooks...obvious at this point. Now claiming President Trump was obstructing? Are they joking...I bet not but this is sheer insanity.

We can trust Wray? In my experience, unethical government players hire their friends and family. Is Wray a relative or just a friend?

He is not independent. He is part of the unitary executive.

And the previous lot can hardly claim they were independent of influence by the previous white house.

He is a graduate of the Phillips Academy and Yale and a Bush appointee, which is about as low in my book as a Clinton appointee and all the right credentials to be another swamp dweller. Wray has to prove to us that he is an honest patriotic public servant. Based on what is a given, he is not granted a presumption of innocence, but quite the opposite.

The best thing Wray has going for him — at least for now — is that his signature doesn’t appear on any fraudulent FISA warrant applications.

Well I don’t trust Wray...but at this point I don’t trust any of them. I am sure Wray is related to or married to someone interesting.

I hope someone does a thread about all the swamp connections so we can refer to it. I have seen many disturbing connections but would love to see it all in one thread.

I am baffled as to why authors on the right continue to give credence to the Obstruction meme.

It is not possible for POTUS to commit “obstruction of justice” in the legal sense as they are the unilateral and ultimate arbiter of prosecutorial discretion. And, they have executive authority to hire/fire members of DOJ.

A new POTUS routinely fires most, or all US Attorneys upon taking office. Their motive is to ensure those offices are philosophically aligned.

Thanks RoosterRedux. Trump protects Robert Mueller -- do the job you're supposed to do, rather than the illegal stuff what Hitlery and Zero want you to do, and you'll get a pardon for the illegal stuff you've already done.

Also the rag that hired Fusion GPS for dirt on Trump before Hillary and the DNC got to it.

Trump can’t be put on trial before a jury like an ordinary citizen because he is the President. He would have to be removed from office first. And that’s not going to happen.

Trump needs an FBI Director who wants facts about any past wrongdoing within the bureau, and who will take corrective action to include providing those facts to public which has every right to know.

He doesn’t need another bureaucrat protecting his bureaucracy, and hiding behind some bogus notion of independence, when the evidence is overwhelming that high officials of the FBI used the powers of the agency to try and sway a presidential election.

This article is a lot of convoluted nonsense.

What Trump really needs is a take no prisoners special counsel to really investigate what happened during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The art of critical thinking has been lost on FR. Now most just post blog crap or chime in with meme-like answers void of any thought or analysis. I miss the old days.

Wray supports the FBI, regardless if they are right or wrong. Wray should be supporting the constitution, and the law, not providing cover for his people that are guilty of abusing it. Fire the mf’r.

Oh, it’s easy to see whose side many are on.

Zero’s list of illegality includes TREASON (giving aid & comfort to the enemy w/ his ILLEGAL pallets of $$$) and not *ONE* word from the ‘opposition’ party (which was/IS the majority party).

Compare that to the ‘hurtful words’ response(s), tabling bills and just vocal push-back the same majority party does today for (supposedly) ‘one of their OWN’ (whom we know they do not like).

Wray is independent of Trump and answers to the Deep State.

That's exactly backwards.

That could be a problem for Trump. Wray appears to be both clean and an "independent" Deep State sympathizers.
