A federal judge has stayed the lethal injection of an Alabama inmate in order to have an independent medical expert review his claims that he is too sick to be executed.

In most cases, I'd want the bastard executed on the scheduled date, in this case, let him suffer and slowly, rot away.

Some times death is a blessing and this asshole deserves more pain.

This a political ball being played with by both sides of the isle. We know full well how to perform executions that are quick, efficient, and painless. Simply put the criminal in a room by himself and pump in pure nitrogen for 15 minutes. The executed criminal won't even notice it when he dies. Once the 15 minutes are up, you vent the nitrogen and pump in standard atmosphere. Notice there are no costly chemicals, poisons or anything else to muck things up. Air is already 80% nitrogen as it is, so it's not like it is a pollutant. Bottles of compressed pure nitrogen are cheap.

The only reason capital punishment methods is still an issue is because both sides want it to be.

So the old phrase “I’m so sick I’d have to get better to die” is true?

WEll - yes, sort of...

#1 - how can someone be “too sick” to execute? That makes no sense at all.

#2 - Lets say he does have cancer and it is killing him.. the taxpayers will pay for his pain meds and any treatment he wants to “save his life”, if possible. Seriously - you can’t make this garbage up. it’s his “constitutional rights” to receive treatment at taxpayer expense... (while real, law-abiding, taxpayers often have to make hard decisions about treatment options based on their finances).

Didn't the SCOTUS rule that this is a viable, and constitutional means of execution? Why do we complicate things with sedatives, muscle relaxant, pain meds in a delicate cocktail of an IV that has raised its own set of legal challenges?

Or a rope + a tree = nearly as cheap as two bullets.

Errr, was it bad for him to execute the woman, who was healthy and alive. After he left, she was dead. So, he gets to find a liberal judge to stay what this scum should get. The poor lady had no choice. This scum murdered her. So, she gets no chance and this scum finds himself a liberal judge.

When I lived in Washington state back in the 1990's, there was this guy who was skinny when he was arrested. After he was convicted, he was in prison and what did he do?? He started eating to his heart's content. He bought Snickers candy bars in the prison store. He started to gain weight and more weight and more weight, and MORE.

During that period, early 1990's, WA state's execution was still by HANGING. Now it is by lethal injection. But, he was to be hung. So, here was this FAT, well over 300 pounds and his attorney filed a motion that it was unconstitutional to hang the guy, because he was so fat that his head would be torn off his neck when they dropped him down the hole. That all that weight would tear his head off. Sooooooo, what happened??? The MASSIVELY liberal Washington State Supreme Court AGREED with the defense counsel, and the FAT assed murderer is now doing LIFE, with no parole. He gets to keep living. I think, and a lot of people in the State agreed with me, that he should have been put on a 1,000 calorie diet and made to lose sufficient weight to where he could be hung. But, no, he is alive and well, doing life down at the state prison. So, thankfully now they have the injection and fat boys cannot pull that again. That came in quickly after the guy got life instead of being executed.
