The political fight over global warming has extended to science education in recent years as several states have attempted to weaken or block new teaching standards that included information about climate science. But only in Idaho has the state legislature stripped all mentions of human-caused climate change from statewide science guidelines while leaving the rest of the standards intact.
Now teachers, parents and students are pushing back, hoping to convince the Republican-controlled Idaho Legislature to approve revised standards, which science proponents say are watered down but would still represent a victory for climate change education in the state. The Idaho House education committee could vote as soon as Wednesday on whether to allow the revised language into the states curriculum.
While Idaho teachers can still choose to include climate change in their lesson plans - and many do in places like Boise, the states capital and biggest city - science educators said they were concerned for teachers in districts where climate change was considered more controversial. Without state standards, those teachers might choose not to teach climate change at all, said Christopher Taylor, the science supervisor for the Boise School District.
Gov. C. L. Otter, a Republican, said in a statement that he supported efforts to implement the revised standards.
Mr. Cook said the Education Department would not allow lawmakers to change the science of climate change. If they come back and say, were going to pull this out and say backyard barbecuing or volcanic activity is the cause, that would be a bridge too far, he said.

This is so sad to see people fighting to have their kids propagandized.
The beginning of the capitulation by the slimes.
They were forced to refer to “human caused.”
This is a good example why the federal Department of Education must be downsized or eliminated and given back to the States where it was before Carter’s administration. The closer the quality and content is to the people the better.
Where is the ACLU keeping religion out of skools?
My daughter is being taught Environmental Science this semester. I will accept any grade other than an F or an A. Her GPA can handle an F, but an A could damage her logical thought process.
OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.
3. The earth is one of the suns planets.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?
I teach Environmental Science at a small private school. You can bet that the kids know the difference between radicalism and environmental stewardship. In fact, they make fun of Earth First and climate change radicals almost on a daily basis.
Amazing how many times the word “science” is used in this article, when there is exactly zero science to support the globull warming hoax.
That’s very refreshing and good to hear,
In the classes I teach, I always include the “science” of human-caused global warming because it is features a boundless set of examples of logical fallacies and bad science (which is the point of the lesson).
The only problem is that students now-a-days don’t give a wit about global warming/climate change anyway and seem to already know it it B.S.
As you may recall, all the “global warming” took place before 1996, so to most of the students, it’s a myth or story from ancient times.
Of all things taught in k-12, spotting B.S. and ridiculing it into submission should be mandatory.
They have even created videos mocking an earth first gathering in the woods
