I think the most appropriate term in these times of PC is humankind. Gawd, he couldn’t get that right. I would use mankind as the word man has been used to speak of our species.
But human has “man” in it. So the most extreme PC police will not approve of humankind.
A good question is how did the politically correct crowd get so much power over Western Civilization, so that we are compelled to make up new words, and are told that some words commonly used are now offensive or outdated or not inclusive. And we why we supposed to give a blank what the politically correct crowd thinks.
