Could be. Wouldn’t surprise me at all!
I would add that to my list of plausible hypotheses.
But my top guess is that Hitlery was making money from a gun-running operation, with better than even odds that Stephens was in on it. Your theory may explain why the operation went south. My alternate theory is that Hitlery intended for it to go south. In either case, that would give her the opportunity to cut Stephens out of the $ deal and to silence someone who had info about her.
It seems to me that LOTS of people who think they are “close to the Clintons” and know a lot of secrets end up being too dead to ever tell those secrets.
