N. Korea, Military Parade Staged in the Morning on the Anniversary of N. Korean Militarys Founding
Quiet Event with no Live Broadcast
2018.02.08
N. Korea conducted military parade on Feb. 8 on the 70th anniversary of N. Korean militarys founding.
According to a government source, We learned that N. Korea had military parade at the Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang around 10:30 AM (10 AM in N. Korean time,) as scheduled. It is believed that 50,000 people participated in the parade including 13,000 troops commemorating the anniversary of their militarys founding.
N. Korean state media usually broadcast the parade live, but this time they are not making the parade (footage) public so far. No foreign reporters were invited either. Last year 130 reporters from 40 media organizations were invited to the military parade commemorating the 105th anniversary of Kim Il-sungs birthday (the Day of Sun.)
Prior to the parade, some observers speculated that N. Korea will have military parade as planned but do so quietly as a domestic event, mindful of international attention and Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games.
