White House Staff Secretary Resigns Over Abuse Allegations
Daily Caller ^ | 8/2/18 | Amber Randall

White House staff secretary Rob Porter resigned Tuesday after two of his ex-wives came forward accusing him of abuse while they were married to him.

Porter called the allegations “simply false” before thanking the president for the opportunity to serve in the White House and announcing he would be leaving, reports Axios.

“These outrageous allegations are simply false. I took the photos given to the media nearly 15 years ago and the reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described. I have been transparent and truthful about these vile claims, but I will not further engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign,” Porter said, adding he would be working as hard as possible to ensure a “smooth transition” as he leaves the White House.

Porter’s first wife, Colbie Holderness, accused the White House staff secretary of having been “verbally, emotionally and physically abusive and that is why I left” in an interview with the Daily Mail. His second wife, Jennifer Willoughy, said he physically assaulted her during their marriage and she was constantly scared of his anger.

Two ex-es have a beef against him from years ago, so he resigns. Wow. I once hit my sister. Does that mean I have no hope of a career in media or politics? Oh, yeah. Was never interested in one, and this is another reason to never be interested. Congratulations, Me Too.

Actually, the Me Toos have scored far more ‘own goals’ against leftists. Resigning like this is a fast way to make sure the media doesn’t have the “Trump, who grabs pussies, employs a known abuser as Staff Secretary” meme to spout at every newscast for the next six months.

Sure. It makes sense in the present situation. But the ramifications of the Me Too meme are going to be felt years from now, warding away talented and mostly good men from public life, because years ago, while navigating the complicated shoals of inter-gender relations, they pissed off someone female who subsequently made an allegation against them. Doesn’t matter if the man in question sinned no more and lived an exemplary life afterwards, or if the woman in question is fabricating out of malice. The allegation is believed on its face, automatically, and the man’s career is ruined, which is very disturbing.

Thing is, you can have women on the right do the exact same thing - and that this is already the state of affairs in US family court. The woman is believed in all things unless there is extensive, exhaustive, irrefutable proof in impossible to ignore quantities; the man is assumed to be lying and guilty.

Why is anyone quitting over allegations?

My guess there is more to this than allegations.

#MeToo also attracts those who, if they think they can get away with it, will lie through their teeth all over again if it means they can ruin the life of a man (or men) they 'thought' they were in love with. They will resort to taking the lowest road there is if it means being able to watch from a safe distance.

The other myth being perpetuated is that she was never the fool in love who so innocently, lovingly and sincerely gave her 'intended' everything she had to give as a woman, true friend and confidant and mature human being. She was never "easy" and she was never "loose", and she certainly was not the first to say "I love you" (Hah!).

Admitted and convicted murderer Jodi Arias comes to mind...I remember watching her trial and sentencing on TV. I almost wanted to believe she was 100% innocent but then I remembered (all too well) a woman I once knew who was more of a "Jodi Lite" and not the murdering type but still twisted enough to beat herself in the face and later take pictures of the self-administered injury with a camera that she knew I would be taking to the One Hour Photo for processing...and much much more. The really sick thing is that Jodi Arias is probably still in love with Travis Alexander or so she thinks.

Personally if he EVER did so that should be a disqualifier to work i the White House and for the President. Sorry, once an abuser, always an abuser. There are plenty of other jobs around that we don’t need to have such people in the White House. I seriously doubt he has unique skill that no one else has. And President Trump does not need the controversy

You just disqualified the President from serving in the WH. You don’t think Marla Maples has any stories? And then there’s the Access Hollywood tape. As for me, I already admitted to hitting my sister once. She hit me back, of course, and we both were told to shut up so daddy could drive, but abuse is abuse.

Look at all the CEOs and pols leaving office

I thought the one who should not have left was Franken. With him, it was what you see is what you get. But I can't fault him or any of the others for resigning if they can. For an older person with a family and life that's established and they're financially secure, why put up with the circus?

It's actually an outgrowth of the bogus claims about Roy Moore and disgusting establishment 'pubs relinquishing that Senate seat rather than have another elected pol they don't control.

There are a few cases that are disgusting. The crime is they'd been ignored for decades. But this "guilty until proven innocent" and questionable claims? They shouldn't even be publicized.

Tell that to the Dems, especially All red. Tell that to the MSM.

Drudge describing this guy as Trump's "right hand man."

Are you kidding me? I never heard of the guy before and I follow the Trump Administration closely.

There was a top executive in my company that had to resign for personal misconduct recently. That's not a reflection on the company or those that work there. People everywhere make bad decisions and they pay the price for those decisions.

Also, does this mean Hope Hicks is now available? Let me get permission from my wife to reach out to her. I think she's in need of comforting.

My fear is people paying the price for others simply lying. And more so of people in power being afraid of doing what is right for fear of being destroyed by those who are willing to do set up ficticious smear campaigns.
