Bermuda's governor has approved a bill reversing the right of gay couples to marry in the British overseas territory, despite a Supreme Court ruling authorising same-sex marriage last year.

The decision by Governor John Rankin in the wealthy Atlantic island of 60,000 people represents a rare reversal of a trend among Western countries of legalizing same-sex marriage.

This will not get a lot of press, because it goes against one of the largest axioms of the left: that leftism is inevitable and permanent.

This has been one of the left’s most effective long term strategies in the US. They discovered that if they could get a bare majority to pass a radical leftist law, sometimes with the help of Republican liberals, it would effectively be permanent, as long as the left stayed in lock step, conservatives needing a 2/3rds majority to repeal.

That is why Americans still wear the yoke of many New Deal and Great Society (LBJ) laws, and why it is so extremely hard to repeal Obamacare.

But this strategy also hits across the spectrum on social policy. It is why we have had to fight a left leaning SCOTUS and Democrats in congress, to whittle down Roe v. Wade. It is why federal judges decided on their own to not just legalize homosexual “marriage”, but to force it on society.

And it is why the US has been inviting the dregs of the world in, since Teddy Kennedy eviscerated our effective immigration laws.

So the bottom line is to reject the “inevitability” of leftism, to say that it is not written in stone, and that, with good leadership such as President Trump, we might get rid of a lot of the worthless and stupid social engineering projects that have crippled our nation.

Now that Obama is gone, he can no longer threaten them the way he did with many African countries, using USA aid as a carrot stick. It’s the only reason many of these countries allowed homosexual marriage to begin with.

“Still, the new act has been criticised by international human rights groups who have lobbied Rankin and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson to deviate from standard practice in self-governing UK territories and withhold assent.”

In other words, you’re free to self-govern, as long as you self-govern the way we tell you to.

Let's not be so cynical...perhaps it's that the people,after reflection,decided "this just isn't right".

Human rights groups upset. Too f*cking bad. My first time in Bermuda was a delayed honeymoon in 1977. Every morning I enjoyed reading the Hamilton newspaper’s daily crime log section. There were usually 20-30 entries of crimes that were mostly exceeding the island’s 25 mph speed limit or possession of cannabis in one of its more common forms. By the names of the criminals, I assumed they were all native Bermudians. Sentences were harsh by modern standards with six months, for example, doing 40 mph on a moped. Possession of a gram or two of cannabis earned prison terms of a year or more. Those people don’t f*ck around with their law and order which is probably one of the reasons some of the wealthiest folks of the British Empire have domiciled themselves there. Bermuda is definitely not a shit hole and I applaud their actions to make sure it does not turn into one. Will I ever take another cruise to Bermuda? Probably not.

Why is it that I, like 99% of heterosexuals on the planet, am able to practice our heterosexuality in private but the LGBT crowd has to flaunt it in public?
