Republican Utah lawmaker Jon Stanard has unexpectedly resigns from the Legislature.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Republican Utah lawmaker Jon Stanard has unexpectedly resigned from the Legislature.
House Speaker Greg Hughes announced Wednesday morning that the representative from St. George resigned Tuesday night "due to personal and family concerns."
Hughes did not offer details but said legislators are honoring Stanard's request for privacy and wish him the best.
House Chief of Staff Greg Hartley said in a text message that Stanard was not facing any kind of legislative investigation or disciplinary action.
Stanard did not respond to a voicemail seeking comment Wednesday.
He was first elected in 2012.

He’s not in Congress. This is the UT state legislature.

This is the Utah state legislature, apparently, and not the US House of Representatives.

This is a state rep., not a congressman.

"...a lawmaker who abruptly resigned used a state-issued cellphone and hotel room paid for with taxpayer money to arrange trysts with a prostitute."

Ok, time to be pedantic. Boinkimg a prostitute is most definitely NOT a “tryst.”
noun
1. a private, romantic rendezvous between lovers.
“a moonlight tryst”
verb
1. keep a private, romantic rendezvous.
“a trysting place”
To: SaraJohnson
He is in the State Government...NOT A FEDERAL Rep...
Utah has to deal with this...

As Chubby Checker might have said:
Come on let’s tryst again,
Like we did last summer!
Yeaaah, let’s tryst again,
Like we did last year!
