Not all. My cousins wife throws the discus and currently holds the US record. She gets some sponsorship but is still largely self financed. Her husband and father in law built her a practice gym on their farm with a catch net. There are no rules about the throwing ring surface so they built interchangeable ones so she can train on the surface she will compete on. By the way, she’s black, Christian, and a wonderful person.
