The law in this state is that in hospital deaths the organ donation rep needs to be notified within one hour, so they can pressure the family.
Hang up on them.
I suspect the hospital gets a cut.

We just went through this when my brother passed last week. Pressure was brought to bear in the form of a conference room discussion of how his organs could be donated and save others. In our case, my mother and his girlfriend were staunchly opposed so the answer was NO.
BUT... we dont know what was actually done with the body once we left the hospital and because he will be cremated, anything is possible. I already feared they harvested his organs anyway before reading this article.
sometimes you can call your mortician right when the corpse is pronounced dead and have them pick it up quickly. In most hospitals corpses are removed from the room to the morgue with a morgue cart, and picked up from the morgue by the mortician from there.
