I’m not done yet, but greatly disheartened. The republicans want to cut taxes and spend. At least the Democrats will raise taxes and spend. As a fiscal conservative you have to decide which side is going to create less debt, well it’s starting to look like the Democrats would. But wait! Obama took a page from Bush jrs handbook and increased spending and cut taxes too! So now there is no difference between the parties fiscally.

I consider myself a fiscal conservative, but I’m realizing most people who claim to be fiscal conservatives only want to pay less taxes. What I want is the budget balanced and the debt reduced. If it is done by cutting spending or raising revenue (taxes, tariffs, etc.) or a combination of the two I don’t care, just make it happen.

What I want is the debt repudiated, because it can never be paid. Attempts to pay down the debt would make the 2020s look worse than the 1930s and lead to a Hugo Chavez or Bernie Sanders style dictatorship.

Yes, it will cause all the banks to fail. Puerto Rico will repudiate. Venezuela will repudiate. Europe and Japan will repudiate. China will repudiate. For each country, the only question is when. Some time between now and 2037, we will have a mess. A mess is better than $100 trillion Federal Reserve Notes to buy a loaf of bread in the morning, and $500 trillion in the afternoon.
